Opened for $1.25 billion & derided as being hideous. Only drawing in half of it’s expected visitors, it was closed within a year which in itself cost $41 million.
The Burj Khalifa (Dubai)
Tallest building in the world, made for $1.5 billion. The financial crisis meant the building had to be renamed for the united arab emirates president who bailed Dubai out.
Citigroup Center (Manhattan, USA)
Built on stilts, construction ignored safety to cut corners. any storm could have knocked it down. rather than own up, workers were hired at night to do secret repairs.
